OVERVIEW

Enhancing State and Local Governments Energy Assurance dollars will be used to improve state emergency preparedness plans and ensure quick recovery and restoration from any energy supply disruptions. Funds will be used by state governments to hire or retrain staff and expand state-level capacities to address challenges to the country’s energy systems, including emergency situations such as blackouts, hurricanes, ice storms, and disruptions to heating supplies.

KEY EVENTS

March 2, 2010 - The Tennessee General Assembly approved the FY 2009-2010 budget expansion requests allowing the program to now be implemented.
August 12, 2009
– Tennessee award announced. Click here to read the official announcement. Since the award was announced after the state's FY 2009-2010 budget was passed, ECD must ask the General Assembly for a budget expansion and approval when they reconvene.
July 30, 2009 – State applications due to DOE.
June 15, 2009 – Funding opportunity announced.
